Safe Working in Education (SWE) - About the Course



The Safe Working in Education course is accredited by IOSH, Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals and delivered by approved trainers.
Specifically designed for the education sector, the two-day course will highlight the importance of working safely, ensuring that delegate's actions contribute to the safety of their organisation and that individual responsibilities are clearly understood.
The course comprises six modules:
- Introducing safe working
- Improving safety performance
- Defining common hazards and risks in the education sector
- Identifying common hazards
- Community-centred learning and teaching
- Protecting your environment
On successful completion of the course, delegates from traditional and community-based educational settings will be able to:
- Identify common hazards and evaluate risks, particularly in relation to work experience placements and educational trips (14 to 16 provision)
- Understand the importance of appropriate workplace precautions and know when to seek advice
- Understand their role in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace
- Understand the importance of carrying out work activities without undue risk to themselves or others
- Report unsafe situations and have the confidence to seek health and safety assistance when required
- Be aware of the Safe Learner Concept
